One place I would like to go to would be a cafe that had art shows or art contests and I would assume that it would be free to get in. I think those places are really cool because anyone can enjoy them anytime and I just think it makes coffee places look really awesome.
Another cool place to go would be PDX Contemporary Art. The art there looks pretty interesting and i would like to check it out.

Art:21
Bruce Nauman - His art was very abstract and kind of weird. He liked to make art that wasn't really functional but made people think about how to use it.
Karrie James Marshal- His art was really cool. It was historical and kind of modern at the same time. And most if not all had a black figure.
Myalyn - She liked to do geographical art. She also helped designed the Vietnam Memorial. She also liked to make out door sculptures.
Louise Bourgious - She did a memorial for Jane Aadams. She used her hands and others for the memorial. She also reallly like the black color that the hands were made of. She wanted the hands to look comforting.

Marla Video
I think that what makes art is dependent on what you kind of art you're talking about. I think lots of different things are considered art. I do in fact think that Marla did do some of the paintings but I also think that her dad got a tad bit defensive when they said that and it kind of made me wonder. I think that the people from 60 Minutes were twisting the story so they could make it more interesting but i do think that Marla painted her pictures mainly by herself.
Artists
Vincent VanGogh- I particularly like his piece Starry Night because of the way it's put together and the color contrast.
Julian Beever- I really like his 3-D drawings because they all look so realistic and life-like.
Eliza Kolesnokova- Some of her drawings are so mystical and entrancing you could just stare at them for hours.
Brian Dettmer- He makes the most amazing carving like pieces that he makes out of old books and it looks amazing.
Albin Polasek- His sculptures are incredible and so intensely detailed.
Three Brain Videos
The first video we watched talked about what each side of the brain does. It was very interesting. It talked about how in school we are forced to use are left brain because thats what were told to do. Also it was cool to know that we learn things from our parents without them teaching us.
In the next video there was a debate between the left and right side of the brain. The left side made it see like they were more of reasoners and smarter. The left side made it look like they were just dumb and happy go lucky which I thought was kinda dumb.
The last video was about how in this era we are using computers and not using our artistic abilities. Some people in this video say that is important to posses both qualities. I think that is is important as well because when you do reports and stuff it's important to be creative.

What did I learn from each drawing exercise?
Self-portrait- The hardest thing I found about doing a self portrait was capturing the life like details of a persons face. I think I did well with my hair in my self portrait because it was the simplest to draw while still being detailed. This exercise was helpful in making me think about drawing what I see not what I think.
Person from memory- I think this one was the hardest because I didn't have a reference to draw from. I am impressed with my basketball hoop though i though it was pretty good. What was helpful about this exercise was me was being able to recall someone a certain way in my mind. I though this was the hardest drawing we have had to do so far.
My hand- The hardest thing about drawing my had was proportions because we couldn't trace them. I think I did do well with the width of my fingers though. This was very cool though and I though it was helpful because again it made me think about shapes and sizes without focusing on what it really was.
Upside-down picture of Igor Stravinsky- This whole drawing was really hard cause it was obviously upside-down and very detailed. I think what made it easier for me was the fact that I had had to draw upside-down before so it wasn't totally new to me. Over all this drawing I would have to say that this was my worst drawing out of the set of drawings even though I had drawn upside-down before.
